Miguel Saludes | Available Works (pdf file)

Born in Cuba in 1989, Miguel Saludes along with his family were granted political asylum by the United States government in 2005 after many years of political repression and growing danger of long-term imprisonment or assassination.

With New Found Freedom in America, Saludes went on to obtain a BFA in painting from Florida International University in 2012, graduating summa cum laude. He then was awarded an MFA in painting from the University of Florida in 2016. Afterwards, Saludes pursued additional college coursework in order to obtain a Florida professional educator’s certificate, which he recently earned in 2020. Following his mother’ example and love for teaching, Saludes became an educator too, and has been working as a high school art instructor in a Florida Title-1 institution since 2017.

Parallel to his educator’s path, Saludes has managed to actively pursue a professional artistic career. His work is now part of public and private collections throughout the state of Florida, and in the states of Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York. He has also received numerous awards, including a special recognition for artistic contributions to Hispanic Heritage Month awarded by Miami-Dade College in 2016, the Lake Charles Press Purchase Award, granted by McNeese State University in 2015, and the Jeffrey Olsen Painting Award, granted by Florida International University in 2012, to name a few.

His work can be found in the permanent collections of the following museums:

Museum of Florida Art and Culture, Avon Park, FL

Brownsville Museum of Fine Art. Brownsville, TX
The Rodriguez collection-Kendall Art Center. Miami, FL
