Bob Kane
Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1937, Kane often muses that
he actually was born on a clove of garlic and herbs de Provence along the Riviera. His subject
matter would back up that statement since his oils are of the Mediterranean area.
He paints with watercolor on location and then creates his oils back in his New York studio.
Kane came to our attention in 1987 at the suggestion of Will Barnet.
Barnet has had thousands of students since the early 1950s and yet Kane was
the only one he ever recommended to join him as a gallery artist at this gallery,
the gallery he has been associated with since 1970.
Kane’s popularity has been evident by the annual
shows he has had at our gallery since 1989. He is also represented in about 20 museum permanent
collections including the Butler Inst., Hirshhorn, PA Academy of Fine Arts, Cincinnati, Boca Raton,
and others
Each year his annual show carries a different overall theme
or locale. These range from the Rivieras to Venice, Rome, Spain, Paris, Morocco, Greece and
Positano.
